A Letter of Encouragement From Shaun Rawls To His Family of Offices and Agents

Moving Careers wanted to share with you a letter the Shaun Rawls sent to all of his agents on October 20th, 2008.  Keller Williams Realty would not be the best real estate company for agents to run their business at, if it was not for the amazing leadership, guidance and support that we receive from people like Shaun. 

 

Superstars…

For years I have been told that I should read “The Greatest Salesman in the World” by Og Mandino, but for some reason I never took the time to buy it or read it.  Recently, one of our associates gave it to me, and I read every word of it on a two hour flight home to Atlanta yesterday.  “Wow!” is all I can say.

This book should be required reading for anyone, particularly for anyone entering the field of real estate or anyone in the real estate business today.  As I read the book, I couldn’t believe what a complement it is to “SHIFT,” and I couldn’t help but wonder what it would do for every agent who read this as soon as possible.

So, here’s my hope:  That EVERY agent in The Rawls Family of Market Centers will read this book in the next 30 days.  Obviously, everyone should (should’ve already) read “SHIFT.”  In addition to “SHIFT,” read this book, “The Greatest Salesman in the World.”  I promise that the story will inspire you, motivate you, and give you new perspectives on how to be your very best!

If you’re not familiar with this book, its story recounts the legend of Hafid, a camel boy who lived two thousand years ago and came into the possession of ten ancient scrolls that contain the wisdom for achieving all of his ambitions in life.


Here are the subject contents of the 10 scrolls that he found in a trunk:

1. Today I begin a new life.
2. I will greet this day with love in my heart.
3. I will persist until I succeed.
4. I am nature’s greatest miracle.
5. I will live this day as if it is my last.
6. Today I will be master of my emotions.
7. I will laugh at the world.
8. Today I will multiply my value a hundredfold.
9. I will act now.
10. Today I will pray for guidance.


I offer you this “teaser” paragraph from page 22 of “The Greatest Salesman in the World”:

“First, you must prove to me, and more important to yourself, that you can endure the life of a salesman for it is not an easy lot you have chosen.  Truly, many times have you heard me say that the rewards are great if one succeeds but the rewards are great only because so few succeed.  Many succumb to despair and fail without realizing that they already possess all the tools needed to acquire great wealth.  Many others face each obstacle in their path with fear and doubt and consider them as enemies when, in truth, these obstructions are friends and helpers.  Obstacles are necessary for success because in selling, as in all careers of importance, victory comes only after many struggles and countless defeats.  Yet each struggle, each defeat, sharpens your skills and strengths, your courage and your endurance, your ability and your confidence and thus each obstacle is a comrade-in-arms forcing you to become better…or quit.  Each rebuff is an opportunity to move forward; turn away from them, avoid them, and you throw way your future.”

I realize that this is an unusual request, but I hope that you will see why I challenge you with reading this, should you choose to humor me and read this.

KW Cares would like to thank each and every associate who generously put their time and effort into helping those associates who were affected by Hurricanes Ike and Gustav. While the recovery process for the Gulf-States and Texas-South Regions is in place, many residents are just now recognizing the true impact that the hurricanes have had on their homes and businesses.

 

Currently, 185 Keller Williams family members have received assistance in the wake of the storms and KW Cares is working to provide support to more associates every day. 

 

KW Cares would also like to recognize the phenomenal efforts of John Davis, regional director of Texas – North and New Mexico and Greater Heartland, for rallying his regions to donate more than $50,000 to associates facing financial hardship due to the hurricanes.

 

It is their generous donations that are helping many get through the difficult process of rebuilding their homes and businesses.
