A Note From Aaron Kaufman, Founder of Moving-Careers.com @ Keller Williams Realty
Thursday, August 16th, 2007My name is Aaron Kaufman, and I am the founder of Moving-Careers.com, an online resource for new and experienced agents that are interested in a real estate career at Keller Williams Realty. I have been an active real estate agent in the Atlanta market for the past 6 years, of which my first year was spent with Coldwell Banker and my last five years at Keller Williams Realty. Like many people that enter this industry or even experienced agents at tradtional companies, I really did not understand how all of the real estate companies were different. Of course, they all have their own different brands and reputations, but I assumed that their basic models for commission, training and education were all the same.
When I was in my first year as an agent at Coldwell Banker, I was fortunate enough to be involved in a transaction with a Keller Williams agent. First and foremost, I was taken back by her level of service, communication and integrity. When we completed our transaction, I decided to ask her a little bit about how life was as an agent at Keller Williams Realty.
The first thing that caught my attention, was the fact that she was making a much higher percentage of her commission. As a struggling first year agent, who had to wait tables 6 nights a week in the evenings, I was definitely intrigued by the company’s compensation model. I grew up in Atlanta, went to college at Emory University in Atlanta, so I knew that my clients, who many I had know for a long time, would want to work with me regardless of the company that is was affiliated with.
My experience at Keller Wiliams Realty has been absolutely amazing. Even though I joined the company initially for it’s higher commission splits, the real truth is, that the greatest impact KW has had on my life and business, has been through the unbelievable training, education and support that they provide.
KW is inherently different from all other real estate companies, because it is a profit sharing company. The profit sharing money is great(I now actually make more than a 100% of my commission), but it is the effects that profit sharing has on everything else that makes this great company so unique. As a direct result of sharing the profits with the agents and treating them like partners(only open book real estate company), there is a real incentive for the agents to share ideas. This has always been a ‘dog eat dog’ industry, so imagine a company, where the top agents share their ideas, secrets and models with other agents in their office and in the company. It’s what we call a true Win-Win! By sharing ideas, all of our businesses go to a higher level, thus creating more profit sharing and better quality of life for everyone.
I designed this website and this blog with the sole purpose of sharing with new and experienced agents my genuine passion and enthusiasm for Keller Williams Realty. When you submit your interest in a real estate career with KW through this website, you will be helped through the process by an active KW agent, who has been trained to share with you their personal experiences as well as address any questions or concerns that you might have before helping facilitate a meeting with one of our local offices. I firmly believe, that whether or not you decide to affiliate with our company, you owe it to yourself to gather as much information on as many different real estate companies as you can, so that you can make the most informed decision before starting your career or switching companies. I hope the information in this blog and website is useful and will encourage to want to find out more. Take care!
