Why Choose A Real Estate Career At Keller Williams Realty?

SHARING THE LIGHT AT THE 2007 CULTURAL SUMMIT IN AUSTIN, TX

by Lisa Afonso

he 2007 Culture Summit brought together a room filled with Culture Icons, KW Leaders, OP’s, and Regional Directors, all gathered together for one reason “Culture”. The gathering was to teach each one of us what Culture at Keller Williams Realty truly is, and how we can help impact our market centre and our region.

Each one of us was chosen to be a role model, to help our market centers become strong and united. It was a day filled with culture stories, a vision of where we want culture to be in our market centers, what culture truly looks like in our top offices, and an expert panel ledby three ALC members from the Boise Idaho office.I was truly honored to be chosen to represent Canada at his event along with Susan Allan as Cultural Icons.

By the end of the day I was inspired, and pumped up with exciting new ideas. Each one of us was given a challenge, to go back to our Market Centers and share what we had learned, to take an active part and help bring the culture in our office to the next level.

One of the most important points in our discussions was culture in each office needs to start straight from the top! Beginning with the OP, the Team Leader, MCA, admin staff, and the ALC,these people need to set the standard for the office. Once this standard is achieved we will see an office high in agent count, high in sales, and ultimately high in profit sharing. This is one of the direct results in following the Keller Williams Model.

What is culture? It starts with respecting yourself, respecting each other, living up to the covenant agreement if on the ALC, avoiding inappropriate remarks, random acts of kindness everyday, considerate to the staff, participating in office functions, bringing a positive attitude with you to the office everyday, realizing that no transaction is worth your reputation, and living up to WI4C2TS.

Culture is quite a simple concept, but some may not understand this because they may have never opened up to Keller Williams Culture, or experienced it first had from a Keller Williams International Event, and should look at participating in the near future.

The 2007 Culture Summit truly empowered me, and I encourage all Canadian Keller Williams Realtors to ask themselves; what can I do to help impact the culture in my office? Be true to yourselves, get involved, and realize that each one of us can take an active part and make an impact.
